Monday 23rd - Sunday 29th April 2018

A week of activity to give school children a taste of snowsports – skiing, snowboarding and rollerskiing.

For some, it will be their first time on skis or snowboards and for others, it will be a chance to try racing, freestyle or skier/boarder cross. The week will be an enriching and exciting experience in a new sport which combines physical strength with fine skills of balance and agility. Taking place at clubs and ski slopes nationwide who throughout the week are offering discounted/free GO SKI GO BOARD taster lessons, fun competitions, off-slope activities (think BBQs & music), an opportunity to learn the Skiway Code along with a national ambassador appearance!

National Schools Snowsport Week was piloted in 2016, seeing a total of 21 Slopes across England, 149 schools and 1066 school children participate in the initiative.

In 2017, National Schools Snowsport Week, 2353 school children participated in the campaign and we believe that 2018 will see that number increase even further.

  1. How do I book?
SIMPLE! Search your event using the postcode finder above, select your day(s) and times you're looking to attend along with a proposed number of people and give the centre a call quoting School Snowsport Week.

  2. Can my school get involved in the action?
YES! All schools regardless of type or size can bring a group or class of pupils!

  3. Can we bring as many people as we like?
YES! Although it's best to check with the centre how many people they can accommodate at once before booking

  4. But I don't have any equipment?
NOT A PROBLEM! All instruction and ski hire is included at all sessions - just make sure you wrap up warm with long sleeved tops and pants (jeans and tracksuits are acceptable!) and bring some form of gloves.

  5. Are sessions happening during school time and after school too?
Most clubs and centres have sessions throughout the day so whenever works best for you and there is availability!

  6. My class teacher needs a risk assessment from the club or ski slope?
DON'T PANIC! All clubs and slopes will be able to provide this for you.

  7. Can Teachers get involved too?
OF COURSE! It's a great way of motivating the class and also a fantastic opportunity to learn at the same time

If you've taken part in a Taster Lesson then check out www.goskigoboard.org.uk to find activities and offers at your local slope. It's the same website as this one, simply enter your postcode in the 'Find My Nearest' search at the top and you'll be on your way.
